Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı – Ministry of Youth

The General Directorate of Physical Education was established with the Law No. 3530 adopted on June 29, 1938. İsmet Sezgin was appointed as the head of the ministry, which was established as the Ministry of Sports for the first time after the 1969 general elections in Turkey, on 3 November 1969. In 1972, its name was changed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. After the 1983 general elections in Turkey, it was renamed the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports. As of April 1, 1989, it continued its activities as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the General Directorate of Youth and Sports. In 2011, it was re-established on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey.
