Toy Youth Association was established in December 2017 with the initiative of young people, Eskişehir Tepebaşı Municipality Youth Center employees and volunteers. It aims to carry out activities in local, national and international areas on social, cultural, economic and environmental issues in order to ensure the active participation of young people in decision-making processes on issues that concern them, the creation of horizontal learning environments among peers, and the awareness of volunteering among young people.
It provides regular and free trainings on topics such as Project Cycle Management, Advocacy, Social Media Tools for Activists, Digital Citizenship, Sustainable Development Goals in order to empower young people, develop their capacities and increase their employability.
At the same time, the ”Enjoy your meal” 2nd Hand Bartering Market and Transformation Tables project, which has already started as a citizen initiative, continues its activities under the umbrella of the association, with the establishment of the association. At the transformation tables, which is the first leg of the project, the food that is still edible from the public markets but cannot be sold because of its appearance, is collected and a meal is cooked together. The event, which is open to everyone, offers free meals to share. In the 2nd Hand Items Exchange Market, it aims to avoid irresponsible consumption by exchanging unused items that narrow people’s space. It pays attention to setting up a market, especially during periods of increased consumption such as New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day.
As another business, with the GençBank project carried out in partnership with the Community Volunteers Foundation, it conducts a needs analysis to identify the needs of young people between the ages of 15-25 every year, evaluates them and provides a double-layered support service to young people who are looking for solutions to the problems they see around them. Young people between the ages of 15-25 evaluate the applications received during the project application periods, and provide cash and in-kind assistance to the accepted projects, and offer mentoring services.
