The Cervantes Institute is an institution founded by the Spanish Government in 1991 with the aim of promoting the Spanish language and spreading Spanish and the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The central headquarters of the institution is located in Madrid and Alcala de Henares (Madrid), the hometown of the writer Miguel de Cervantes. The Cervantes Institute is present all over the world in 86 centers spread over five continents.
